40 YEARS

We have a lot of stories to tell.

The Seventies

The seventies were filled with major transformations when it comes to habits and customs. That was when Multiplan was created, with the mission of creating the most innovative and attractive shopping malls in the country. Having the cloverleaf as its brand, Multiplan opened its first mall in Belo Horizonte and, in parallel, developed countless residential and commercial projects.

The Eighties

Some may refer to the eighties as the lost decade, given the lackluster performance of the Brazilian economy. For Multiplan, the eighties were a time of fast growth, as four major malls were opened, transforming and adding value to their surroundings. A shopping mall chain was created, with malls at the main economic hubs in the country.

The Nineties

The Brazilian economy was stabilized and the country started growing again. During these years, Multiplan was bold and bet on creativity, especially in culture. This was also the decade of internationalization, as Multiplan opened the CascaiShopping in Portugal and the II Villagio residential condos in Miami. In addition, Multiplan doubled its ventures in cities where it was already present, opening a second mall in Belo Horizonte, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

The Two-Thousands

With the internet becoming more popular, global horizons were expanded and the global dimension was strengthened. Multiplan went public and its stocks were traded in the Stock Market, drawing international investors. The company doubled in size. It was also the time to expand to new cities such as Curitiba, Porto Alegre and São Caetano do Sul (SP).

The Twenty-Tens

In order to stand out in an increasingly competitive world, specificities must be appreciated. Even though it is still the middle of this decade, Multiplan has opened four malls and invested in multi-purpose projects with commercial and residential buildings integrated to the ventures. The outcome of all this: in 2014, 180 million people visited 18 Multiplan malls and spent BRL 12.7 billion in products and services.
